Introduction

STARC (SITAR) has diversified into MEMS Technology for design and development of various MEMS devices. STARC (SITAR) has been developing and manufacturing MEMS products for nearly 10 years. STARC (SITAR) has a dedicated MEMS fab for manufacturing 6” silicon wafers, packaging and testing with state-of-the-art facilities. STARC (SITAR) is also actively collaborating with MEMS design centres of user laboratories and academic institutes to strengthen the design capabilities.

As STARC forayed into MEMS domain during 2012, MEMS design activities were also given impetus to cultivate nurturing of in-house MEMS technology in its state of the art foundry facility. Fabrication technologies were successfully established using STARC designs and products, like piezo-resistive pressure transducers, are regularly supplied to various customers after testing and qualifications as per customers’ environmental specifications. Following are STARC MEMS products.

Latest Innovation

SITAR society was formed with an objective of design and development of strategic and security systems required mainly for DRDO.

Semiconductor Technology and Applied Research Centre (STARC)

Semiconductor Technology and Applied Research Centre (STARC), Bengaluru was started as a CMOS ASIC Fab with 1 μm digital CMOS, DLM process technology for Processing 150 mm silicon wafers. Several successful ASIC products were produced like Content Access Memory (CAM), Random Number Generation (RNG), Complex Multiplier (CMUL), Digital Frequency Synthesizer (ANUDFS), ANUSAMAY and Time Interval Counter (TIC), Numerical Controlled Oscillator and ANUPAMA Microprocessor. With the advancement of semiconductor technology, 1 μm CMOS Fabrication technology node became obsolete and ASIC fabrication activities were closed in 2014.

Semiconductor Technology and Applied Research Centre (STARC)

MEMS packaging facility was added in 2017. State-of-the-art Low Temperature Co-Fired Ceramic (LTCC) facility and Conventional Semiconductor Packaging Facilities were established in clean rooms (Class 10000). Several custom packages for the MEMS devices were developed in the LTCC facility.

Complete in-house analytical, metrology and test capabilities for characterizing MEMS Devices have been established. Complete environmental test facility has been established at STARC for qualification of all the products as per customer requirement. STARC, being an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization, enforces strict compliance to quality standards and generates quality & traceability documents meticulously to meet customer requirements.
